#14 – Giving Tuesday is over, but supporting the arts remains critical
Ceramics Now Weekly #14 features a call to action, new artists and exhibitions, and the week's news in the ceramics world.
Hello! Welcome to the 14th edition of Ceramics Now Weekly. This is Vasi Hirdo, the founding editor of Ceramics Now.
I hope you’re doing great today 👋 Let’s see what’s new.
Supporting the cultural sector remains critical
This year has been tough for everyone, and cultural organizations were not spared either. Cultural and creative sectors are among the most affected by the current crisis. Here's some examples:
- The American Alliance of Museums estimates that a third of US museums will never reopen;
- Art centers had to close and saw a dramatic drop in participation rates and revenue;
- Media institutions (that write about art) saw a drop in advertising revenue and had to lay off staff.
It's important to remember that we need these institutions to function because they educate the public, help artists, and create vibrant communities, among others. If you can afford it, please make a donation to support your favorite cultural organization. I chose to support Studio Potter and Hyperallergic.
